FADD is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1989 by Steve Concialdi, a dedicated father and fire captain/paramedic with the Orange County Fire Authority with his own funds and other dedicated friends.  Since 1991, FADD has partnered with the Orange County Fire Authority to stage the mock DUI crashes.

FADD's successful program has inspired the Every 15 Minute demonstrations in High Schools across the country that began in 1995.

PURPOSE
The purpose of FADD (Friends Against Drinking and Driving) is to educate teenagers and young adults on the adverse effects of drinking and driving, and to motivate them not to drink and drive.
FADD has a concerned group of professionals representing the fields of education, health, emergency medical care, law enforcement, automobile insurance, video production, as well as victims of alcohol-related accidents, who are giving of their time and talents to further this purpose.

HISTORICAL OVERVIEW
FADD, Friends Against Drinking and Driving, grew from the desire to address the problem of drinking and driving among high school students.  In March 1988, after coming face to face with the staggering statistics of youths involved in alcohol-realted accidents, Steve Concialdi decided to produce a mulitmedia presentation for his fellow students at Mater Dei High School in Orange County.

While working for an ambulance company, Steve witnessed young people self-destructing on our roads and highways, some of them were his friends.  He wanted an effective and permanent way to reach young people and educate them on the dangers of drinking and driving.  The live Mock DUI crash events became a reality with the help of many volunteers all dedicated to Steve’s vision.

In August of 1989, FADD was founded.
